Find a root and a quality

Each chord page gives the actual notes, their interval roles and the bass choices for its inversions. Use the root and quality together: C7 and Cmaj7 share three notes but have different sevenths.

Read beyond the highlighted keys

A piano key can have more than one written name. The chord reference keeps the spelling that shows its role, such as E-flat for the third of C minor or E-sharp for the seventh of F-sharp major.

Explore beyond the catalogue

The reference catalogue focuses on four families. The chord explorer also supports suspended, diminished, augmented and other seventh qualities. An inversion or octave choice stays within the same chord reference rather than creating another page.
