Understand where a collection lives
My practice keeps named collections in this browser’s local storage for this site. A collection can preserve selected examples, their order and practice notes. You do not need an account, and there is no cloud synchronization.
Another browser, browser profile, device or site address has its own storage. Clearing site data can remove saved collections. Private browsing and storage restrictions may also limit how long data survives. Keep an exported JSON copy when the work matters to you.
Save and check the result
Choose Save from an example, select or create a collection, and confirm the save action. Read the resulting status. A visible selection is not the same as a completed save, especially when the browser has blocked storage.
Use descriptive names and review the ordered items in My practice. If you remove an item or collection, make sure you have the reference you need first. A downloaded backup is independent of the browser’s stored copy.
Download an editable backup
Use JSON to preserve editable collection data. SVG and PDF are useful references, but they are not importable project backups. Keep the JSON filename meaningful enough to identify the collection and version you want.
The file is plain text, so its name, notes and selections can be read by anyone with access to it. Avoid including sensitive personal information in practice notes you plan to share.
Review an import before adding it
Choose Import JSON and select a supported ChordLilt file. The app validates the structure and displays the collection for review. Add collection creates a separate collection; it does not replace your existing ones.
An unsupported or damaged file should show an error and leave the current collections in place. A random JSON document, image or PDF is not a valid project simply because its filename is changed. Use a genuine project export for this workflow.
If local saving fails
A save can fail when browser storage is unavailable or full. Keep the current page open and download JSON before changing settings or leaving. A failed save should remain visible as a problem rather than being reported as success.
After addressing the browser setting, retry the save and check the result. If you choose to clear site data, do it only after preserving the work you need: clearing storage can remove both the problematic data and valid collections.
Move one collection to another device
Export JSON on the first device, transfer the file using a method you choose, then import and review it in the second browser. This is an explicit file transfer, not an automatic account connection.
- Download the source collection as JSON.
- Open My practice in the destination browser.
- Select Import JSON and review the parsed collection.
- Add it as a new collection and check the save status.
- Keep the original backup until you have verified the result.
